The Register reports that Iowa Democratic Chair Tom Price must now form a consensus on how the Iowa caucus rules will be changed to comply with the new DNC rules requiring absentee voting in caucuses. The Register story quotes Price as follows: Price said the party will hold a series of public and online forums to gather feedback from Democrats across the state about how best to implement the new DNC requirements. The state central committee will vote on the plan and submit it to the DNC in the spring, he said. The ultimate goal: “We want to preserve the spirit of the Iowa caucuses,” Price said.

Candidates’ get-out-the-vote efforts in Iowa will certainly change as convincing folks to drive through the snow to a caucus meeting is very different than persuading Iowans to vote absentee before the day of the caucus.
