Texas Poll Shows Democratic Candidates Neck and Neck With Donald Trump

Written by FrontRunner

In a recent Texas poll, Democratic candidates are neck and neck with Donald Trump. This is huge for Democrats as Texas has only once voted for a Democratic president. If Democrats are able to win Texas, it would increase the chances of a Democrat winning the Electoral College. Texas has 38 electoral votes, the second most behind California. In the Emerson College Poll, they found that Joe Biden had the best chance of winning against Trump 50 percent to 49 percent. Beto O’Rourke showed similar results with him and Trump each receiving 50 percent. Next was Bernie Sanders who was shown to lose to Trump by 2 percentage points. Elizabeth Warren also lost to Trump in this poll by 6 percent.

The poll also asked Texans about their opinion on Marijuana Legalization. Despite the state’s current strict policies, the majority of Texans support FULL legalization (38%) and another 35% support medicinal marijuana. 13% of the remaining voters would like it decriminalized while 11% want it to remain illegal.

This poll was conducted April 25-28, 2019  and consisted of a sample size of 799 of which 296 are Democrat, 320 are Republican, and 183 are Independent or other. The poll had a margin of error of +/- 3.4 percentage points.
