The U.S. Senate has voted today to advance Bret Kavanaugh’s nomination. The narrow tally was 51 to 49 with Senator Lisa Murkowski voting against moving forward, the first Republican to move away from the party. However, the nomination advanced due to Senator Joe Manchin, a Democrat, who joined the Republicans. Senators Collins and Flake, both key undecided votes, both voted yes to advance. The timing of the final vote is still undetermined, but we can most likely expect results by early next week.
