Montana Governor Steve Bullock

Steve Bullock, born April 11, 1966, in Missoula, Montana, graduated from Claremont McKenna College with degrees in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics before completing his law degree from Columbia University School of Law. Once graduated, Bullock worked as the legal counsel to the Secretary of State of Montana. After this, he joined the Montana Justice Department as an executive assistant before becoming acting chief deputy attorney general where he stated until 2001.

In 2000, Bullock ran unsuccessfully for Montana Attorney General, so he joined the private sector in Washington D.C. working as both an attorney and a professor at George Washington University School of Law before returning to Montana in 2004 and opening his own practice. Bullock ran for Attorney General again in 2008 and won; he pushed for tougher drunken driving laws and ultimately succeeded in reducing DUI offenses.

In 2012, Bullock ran for Governor of Montana winning the Democratic Party nominee after receiving 86.6% of the votes and ultimately won the election. He then ran for a second term and won re-election in 2016. During his time as governor, Bullock has helped to support women’s rights to abortion, he’s made the state’s checkbooks transparent, and is the first governor to sign an executive order on net neutrality. One of his biggest issues is fighting dark money, and he passed one of the strongest campaign finance laws in the country.

Bullock announced that he is running for president on May 15, 2019.

Steve Bullock is married to Lisa Brown and has three children, Alexandria, Cameron, and Caroline.
